Hi, I am going to start skating again. I stopped like 5 years ago so I am quite rusty.

But I need a bit help picking out a skate. Money is not the biggest problem, but it would still be nice to save some money. Especially when I have not skated in 5 years.

I have been looking on Razors Genesys 8 to 200 euro and Razors Cult 8 to 170 euro. Im just wondering what are the major differences between the two? Feeling, flex, weight, etc.?

I would like to have a skate that are not so heavy while im still getting the feeling back and it should not be so stiff that it is very hard to make topside tricks on.

If you have any other suggestions please write it. The price should be around 170 to 220 euro.

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Just found a Valo TV2 with Featherlite frame to 200 euro. If anyone knows something about these please let me know. thanks.

I can’t tell you anything about the Valo’s because of the simple fact that I’ve never ridden a pair of Valo’s before (and probably never will, because they’re tight fit and I got wide feet).

But, I am able to tell you all you want to know about both Razors. Both got the same flexability (they got the same cuff) so if you want MORE flex then you could replace the stock liners (wich aren’t too good by the way). The souls; the soulspace of the Genesys is larger then the soulspace of the cults. Both are made of durable and fast sliding material. Replacement parts for Razors are (except for the frames, wheels and liners) quite expensive. The backslideplates of both skates are HEAVEN! I prefer the groove of the Genesys above the groove of the Cults because of their better alignment with the groove on the frames. Cults are lighter then Genesys, although I don’t notice it at all. Cults don’t have a shockabsorber of soft heelpad, so landing gaps in them might be a bit gnarly.

Hope you’ve got enough info now!

Thanks thats a really helpfull comment. I also remember the Genesys as a good and solid skate. I think im gonna go with that. Is the standard razor frame good? Ill probably just ride 2-3 times a week.

You dont happen to know anything about the USD ufs Throne Evo II with Kizer type M team frame? I found it to the same price as the Genesys.

Edit: Oh and what about sizes of Genesys? Just normal shoe size?
Edit: The USD was out of stock in my size. Maybe a Remz Os.2? But I think it will be too flexi for me. Genesys sounds good so far.
Once a again a edit :): Talked to some guys who advised me to get another setup for the Genesys, mainly because of the stock razor frame. The setup is with F1 flat frame, abec 5 bearings and some other grind whheels. Costs 30 euros more so its quite cheap for that setup. Also heard some bad things about the liner, but I guess I can change that afterwards if I dont like it.

You can do what you want, best deal is probably getting a boot only, and select frames and wheels of your choice. Or maybe on of those sweet deals some shops have. Genesys are true to size when bought with stock liners. (I wear shoe size 12 and got G7 size 12)

Haven’t skated Remz before, I reckon they skate almost the same as Genesys since a lot of Remz parts are Razors-made (like cuff and buckle).

Stock Razors frames are allright, I prefer aftermarket stuff like Ground Controll, Kizer or 50/50 (I’m on 50/50 at the moment)

Okay nice. I just found this http://www.routeone.co.uk/ProductDetails.aspx?CurrentCategory=Departments%7cinline%7cinlinesub%7cAggskate&ProdId=35959 and thinking on going for it because it is so much cheaper than the genesys. But im getting pay tomorrow so i’ll see by then :d

they say that featherlight frames act weird…they’re light but they like to “dance” while grinding

well that’s what i heard =)

Avatar Andreas_2 6 post(s)

I’ve only heard good things about the featherlites. But they must be better than the stockframe so I guess I should be ok.

Its the Cult LE with featherlite vs the Genesys 8 vs the Genesys 7. Genesys 7 is cheaper than the 8 and has a better liner.

I really suck at choosing skates. Cant decide.

personally i go broke when it comes to stuff for skating… i spare all the money for it and spend all for it, i’d go with remz ;)

Avatar Andreas_2 6 post(s)

Hehe yeah, but I gotta save some for aparment rent and stuff :D

You got the Remz? I just think they might get too flexible for me. I tried a friends and I felt that I couldnt control them well. But they were also a size above what I normally use.

Andreas, where you from? I’d dissuade you from ordering from the UK unless you’re in the UK. Shipping and their products are rather expensive. Have you tried the shops near you from this topic ??

I envy Featherlights, one of the best frames ever. I’m gonna get me a new pair tomorrow at Nocturnus.

Avatar LinX 138 post(s)

actually i ordered remz over 3 weeks ago… 0802… and i still didn’t get em, i’m gonna lose my head soon cause i can’t even get new skates what the fucking fuck

Flare, im from DK, If im gonna get the cult 8, genesys 8 or remz im gonna order them from Skatepro.dk. But they dont have different setups. like ignitionshop.com.

I’ve searched around regarding UK shipping. It will cost me 18,75 pounds for the shipping, but on the Razor Limited Edition it is still cheaper than other places. My main idea of getting the Limited Edition is because it comes with the featherlite frame.

David, 3 weeks? wauw, at what shop? Im gonna make sure im not ordering from there haha

Avatar LinX 138 post(s)

bah some slovenian shop that got contract with sunshine distributions… it was originaly 7-10 days now it’s already 3 weeks and i’m losing my head slowly

i did it there to support local scene well now it’s taking too long
