A brainless is by definition a back-flip with a 540 spin done with it, although it's actually more of a 180. If it's done right, then it might be one of the better looking tricks that can be done on a half-pipe. If done wrong, it's messy.

To do this trick, you have to make sure that you can get at least as much air off the half-pipe as you are tall. So if you're six feet tall, make sure you can get at least six foot of air. This is to make sure that you don't head-butt the coping.

Pump the transition as you would to get a large air. As you hit the vert, twist your upper body round ninety degrees and try and touch the back of your skates with your head. You have to keep your legs firm, as with a backflip so your head doesn't smack the coping. At this stage, you need to bring your arms and legs in to help you spin cleanly and quickly. You will know if you get it wrong.

To land the brainless, when you feel your head get to the top of the spin you need to unwind you arms and legs. This will slow your spinning plus line you up for your landing. When this happens, you need to turn your upper body another ninety degrees to face back down the transition. This will bring you round for the full 540. After this, get ready to hit the transition (preferably with you skates).

As with all tricks, you add style to them by throwing grabs in with each of them, but you should only try this once you are confident you can land the trick without breaking anything.
