Topic: Hardware / Question: Non-Bulky Skates

I’ve progressed the opposite of you it looks like. My first pair of skates were a pair of slightly too large K2 125CCs, which have almost non-existant soul plates but TONS of flex. Got Salomon Vinny Minton Pro’s for christmas that year, bigger soul plates. Got TRS Downtown IIIs after that, with even bigger soul plates, but the WORST LINERS I’VE EVER HAD.

My most recent skates have been the Deshi CH1s and the Xsjado Basic 08. CH1s are comfortable as hell, and pretty decent flex but with plenty of ankle support. Xsjado’s… Well, they’re the lightest skates I’ve ever strapped to my feet (not counting the K2 125s, those things were feathers, but Pre-UFS ), Insane flex but enough support I don’t feel like my ankles will snap in ’em. Great skates, both the CH1s and the Xsjados, but you want something without boats for soulplates, so probably CH1s would be better, from my experience.

Have you skated K2 Fatty Pros?

As for Kite, I’ve done that before! Only time I’ve ever pulled a method on a skateboard! =p, but no chance this time unfortunately.

As for damage, my current residence lost part of the back fence, is otherwise A-Okay, got power back two days ago?

My OLD house has a LOT of shattered and trashed out wood in the backyard. Two trees back there look like they went through a wood chipper, but otherwise, place looks completely unharmed.

So, all in all, came out fine.

Had a nasty hurricane sweep through early Friday night / Saturday morning, have no power, have no cell service, have no landline, but hey, I’m still kickin’ it. Streets too full of pine tree and other miscelaneous crap to skate through. :-/

Haha, no kidding. I set my rail in the grass today just being stupid, and found out Fishbrains are hella easy to catch on my new rail, and found out that fishbrains to AO soul are kinda… painful. I didn’t think I could actually rack myself on rail that barely comes up to my knees, but… :lmao:

If you’re open to anything, I’d have to point you toward Xsjado, I just recently got the Basic 08s, they’re incredible skates. The difference between them and Deshi CH1s (or gods, TRS Downtown IIIs) is day and night, let me tell ya. They seem to be really good for airs too, after a long break from skating, before which (on CH1s) I couldn’t gap a tiny little fun box, I’ve come back and nailed the gap first try.

They’re killer skates, worth every penny in my book.

I skate for fun, and I love hitting the skatepark because, well, there’s more to do than what I got at home. My 10’ rail, and my little rail.

It’s kinda sad, I can’t get up the courage to actually do anything other than souls on my new rail I made, though I tested and it’s DAMNED easy to nail topsides on it. I dunno.

Last time I hit the park, I slammed repeatedly trying to do a quarter to bank, and it inspired me! Next time I go, I’m gonna try quarter to Royale to fakie. Which I’m gonna fall a bunch more on. =D

Landing’s never been a problem, it’s catching the rail for me, so I practice into grass for a while until I can land it about 7/10 tries then I move to ‘crete.
